U-Wings served the rebels as transport-/battleships during the Galactic Civil War. They were able to land quickly, send troops into the field, start again and provide covering fire for their own troops with mounted weapons. For the combat ship vs. ship the U-Wings are equipped with two strong front laser cannons as well as powerful reflector shields whose range coverage could be increased in fighting mode (open wings).
